On November 6, 2024, Nicaragua approved Law No. 1223, the General Telecommunications Convergence Law, aimed at promoting technological convergence and improving universal access to telecommunications services.
On November 6, 2024, Nicaragua published the General Law of Convergent Telecommunications (Law No. 1223/2024), replacing the outdated Law No. 200. This new regulatory framework is designed to accommodate emerging technologies such as 5G networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), and mobile internet services, aligning Nicaragua with global telecommunications trends.
TELCOR has released Administrative Agreement No. 001-2023 to improve radio frequency spectrum in Nicaragua. This agreement assigns specific frequency bands for mobile broadband services, Short-Range Devices and Low-Power Wide-Area Network Devices.
The Nicaraguan regulator TELCOR has announced a decision allocating 3.5 GHz band for 5G services.
