Ref: CPSO-101125-22 reminds Registered Suppliers (RS) that Controlled Goods (CGs) found with non-compliances or unauthorized modifications may face suspension, prohibition from supply, and potentially a product recall.
Supplying or advertising suspended or prohibited CGs is an offense punishable by a fine of up to $10,000, imprisonment for up to 2 years, or both.
Key Requirements for Registered Suppliers

Modifications to Registered CGs:

All modifications must be updated in the product's technical file.
Modifications of a technical nature require the CG to be re-certified or re-registered.

Maintenance of Technical Files:

RS must maintain technical files for their registered CGs.
These files must be made available to the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) within 7 days upon request.
Failure to comply can result in a fine up to $2,000, imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both.

Validity and Renewal of Registration:

CG registration is valid for 3 years.
Renewal applications must be submitted six months before the current registration expires to allow sufficient time for processing, testing, and certification.
