The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has received an interim report from the Information and Communications Council on “Technical Conditions for the 433 MHz Band for Tire Pressure Monitoring and Remote Keyless Entry.”

Currently, Japan’s Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) and Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) systems operate in the 315 MHz band as license-exempt (specified low-power) radio stations. However, as the 433 MHz band gains popularity globally and has become the international standard for TPMS and RKE systems, Japan is considering aligning with this standard. In response, the Information and Communications Council has been examining the technical requirements for this shift to ensure compatibility with international frequency coordination. This partial report outlines proposed technical conditions for operating TPMS and RKE systems within Japan’s 433 MHz band.
