Growing together – Tree Aid’s commitment to tackling poverty and the climate crisis.
Eleos is proud to support Tree Aid and their work with communities across the drylands of Africa, tackling poverty and the effects of the climate crisis. Our partnership with Tree Aid grows trees and improves incomes while restoring and protecting land.
By supporting Tree Aid, Eleos has contributed to the growing of over 7 million trees in 2023/24 across Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Niger, Senegal, Ghana and Mali.

On the frontlines of the climate crisis, the communities Tree Aid works with are facing a triple threat. Rising temperatures -1.5 times the global average - are drying out the land they rely on. As soils become increasingly infertile, livelihoods that depend on farming and natural resources are under strain, while limited economic prospects leave people with fewer opportunities for an income.

Across Tree Aid’s projects, the trees grown and activities undertaken vary and are always chosen by, and with, the communities. During much of the year, these communities struggle to find enough water for drinking, cooking, and washing and to grow crops. Trees means stability. Their roots store the water when there is no rain and help the land to stay fertile so other crops can grow. It’s about the right trees in the right place, at the right time.

Father of three, Akulzorko, is a participant in one of our local Tree Aid projects. The land around his home is dry and infertile, making it hard to grow enough food to eat or sell. Through hands-on training, he learned how to nurture tree saplings, build protective mud moulds and understand the deeper role trees play in restoring degraded land. His land is becoming more resilient – and so is his community.

Since 2024, Eleos has donated £78,000 and we are proud to partner with an organisation that is making such an impact across the drylands of Africa.
